Day 01

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, the tropical paradise, and be warmly greeted by our courteous staff who will garland you on arrival. Commence Touring Negombo a characteristic fishing town north of Colombo, which is a mere 6 km from the international airport. Set amidst lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negombo is a gourmet s paradise with seafood in plenty. Old - world fishing craft, like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran, bring seer, skipjack, herring, mullet, pomfret and amber jack, while lobster and prawn are caught in the lagoon.

After a delightful lunch leave for Sigiriya the world s 8th wonder at 0800 hrs. A rock fortress where king Kashyapa built his fortified palace atop and around a 183 m rocky outcrop in the 5th century. Sigiriya is best known today for the paintings of beautiful women found on a sheltered ledge on the side of the rock. These are considered as being part of the world's art treasures. On the summit are the remains of the vast palace of Kashyapa, complete with bathing pool and platforms for dancing girls. The UNESCO-sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya s 5th century Water Gardens to its former glory.

Day 02

After Breakfast leave for Kandy . En-route visits the rock cave temple. Dambulla rock temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka 's cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings found here are over 2,000 years old and is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters.

Also visit a spice garden and a batik factory in Matale.

Day 03

Breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter excursion to visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawela , the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat. This is the only such sanctuary in the world; you will watch the beasts gambolling in the water and being fed their quota of milk from handheld bottles.

After a scrumptious lunch we will inch our way to explore the city of Kandy . This is, perhaps Sri Lanka s most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, and next to Colombo, Kandy is Sri Lanka s most visited place. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed Dalada Maligawa , where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings.

If the time permits we will have the opportunity to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware.

Day 04

After breakfast at the hotel leave for Nuwaraeliya. Enroute visit The Royal Botanic Gardens at Peradeniya where you could treat your eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

Nuwaraeliya, the center of the hill country, enroute visit a tea plantation and witness the manufacture of the world s famous Ceylon Tea . Spend the rest of the evening leisure in the cool climate.

Day 05

‘After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Hambantota.
Situated in extreme south-east of Sri Lanka. Stop at Ella. The view from Ella gap is one of the most spectacular scenic sights in Sri Lanka. The landscape falls away in a dizzy drop of 3000 feet to the eastern plains.

Hambantota, Sri Lanka' dry zone, is best known for its beautiful Crescent-shaped bay and its slat pans, a very ancient industry, that is still thriving. The slat pans line the main road for over 16km.

Day 06

After a delightful breakfast proceed to Galle.

Galle harbour , the former Dutch city and the Dutch fort and view the architecture belonging to the Dutch era. South of Colombo, Galle is the most important southern town. It has an old world charm. Believed to be the Tarshish of the Bible , its natural harbour was a famous fort in days gone by. Galle is famous for its Dutch fort, lace making, ebony carving and gem polishing.

On our way we will stop for a ride in a glass-bottom boat to view coral reef.

Day 07 - Day 12 (Beach Stay)

After breakfast in the hotel you leave for Bentota early. While descending into the lowlands, you will come across the paddy fields and vegetable plots, which border the settlements. Later you will see again paddy fields and coconut plantations. You will stop at one of the spice gardens there you can see a lot of trees, bushes and plants cropping spices.

Bentota Resort complex is a romantic rendezvous of river and sea with several hotels, railway station, post office, shopping arcade, cafeteria and an open - air theatre showing folk and mask dancing with clusters of palms overlooking everything.

Day 13

After breakfast at the hotel, Proceed to Colombo. Colombo , the Commercial capital of Sri Lanka. Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. In no time, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained.

Embark on a shopping spree until you drop in the famous Colombo shopping malls placing your hands on world famous brands at unbelievable prices. ODEl, Arena, House of fashion, Fashion Bug, Beverly Street, Crescat, majestic City and much more. Also you could visit several landmarks in Colombo while you shop for example; there is a 100-year-Old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings, which still attract all of us. Other places of interest are, the Pettah bazaar, where one can shop for bargains, Hindu and Buddhist temples, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference hall an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk art centre.
