Day 01

Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, Sri Lanka, the tropical paradise, and be warmly greeted by our courteous staff who will garland you on arrival. Commence Touring ‘Negombo’ a characteristic fishing town north of Colombo, which is a mere 6 km from the international airport. Set amidst lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Negombo is a gourmet’s paradise with seafood in plenty. Old - world fishing craft, like the outrigger canoe and the catamaran, bring seer, skipjack, herring, mullet, pomfret and amber jack, while lobster and prawn are caught in the lagoon.

After a delightful lunch leave for ‘Sigiriya’ the world’s 8th wonder at 0800 hrs. A rock fortress where king Kashyapa built his fortified palace atop and around a 183 m rocky outcrop in the 5th century. Sigiriya is best known today for the paintings of beautiful women found on a sheltered ledge on the side of the rock. These are considered as being part of the world's art treasures. On the summit are the remains of the vast palace of Kashyapa, complete with bathing pool and platforms for dancing girls. The UNESCO-sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya’s 5th century Water Gardens to its former glory.

Distance from Colombo to Sigiriya 169 KM. Overnight Stay in Sigiriya.

Day 02

After Breakfast leave for Kandy. Enroute visit the rock cave temple. Dambulla rock temple is a vast isolated rock mass and it was here that king Valagambahu took refuge in the 01st century B.C. He later turned the caves into a rock temple. Dambulla is a world heritage site and is the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples. The complex of five caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings found here are over 2,000 years old and is the largest area of paintings found in the world. The caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is the colossal figure of the Buddha carved out of rock and spanning 14 meters. Also visit a spice garden and a batik factory in Matale.

Distance from Sigiriya to Kandy 92 KM. Overnight Stay in Kandy.

Day 03

Breakfast at the hotel. Thereafter excursion to visit the Elephant Orphanage at ‘Pinnawela’, the home for young Elephants who have been displaced or lost from their natural habitat. This is the only such sanctuary in the world; you will watch the beasts gamboling in the water and being fed their quota of milk from handheld bottles.

After a scrumptious lunch we will inch our way to explore the city of ‘Kandy’. This is, perhaps Sri Lanka’s most beautiful town. Set 488 meters above sea level, and next to Colombo, Kandy is Sri Lanka’s most visited place. The focal point of the town is the golden-roofed ‘Dalada Maligawa’, where the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha is enshrined. There are numerous shrines and temples in and around Kandy, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, and stone carvings.

If the time permits we will have the opportunity to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed-ware.

Nuwaraeliya, the center of the hill country, enroute visit a tea plantation and witness the manufacture of the world’s famous “Ceylon Tea”. Spend the rest of the evening leisure in the cool climate.

Distance from Kandy to Nuwaraeliya 77 KM. Overnight Stay in Nuwaraeliya.

Day 05

Breakfast at the hotel. Free day in Nuwaraeliya.

Nuwaraeliya set in the heart of tea-country, this beautiful town is where the British succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, a famous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated 1,890 meters above sea level, the air is cool and fresh – a serene retreat from the hustle and bustle of Colombo. Close to Nuwaraeliya is Horton Plains, Sri Lanka’s highest and most isolated plateau. Nature lovers will revel in this wide, patna-grass covered plain, the haunt of many wild, yet harmless, animals and the home of many species of birds. Bridle paths will take you to the precipice known as World’s End – a sheer drop of 1,050 meters. Acres and acres of tea with its lush green foliage extend miles across the hills, and no visit to the hill country is complete without a visit to a tea estate, and the chance to purchase some of the world’s finest flavored tea.

Overnight Stay in Nuwaraeliya.

Day 06

After a delightful breakfast leave for Colombo through Kitulgala.

Film buffs may enjoy Sri Lanka’s River Kwai - Kelani River, scene of the 1957 film. It is well signed but you may have difficulty avoiding “guides”. If you would rather enjoy the orchards and expanse of farmland in your own secret retreat, Paradise Farm has a stunning setting at the peak of a hill with home grown fruit/vegetables and wild boar on the menu!

Kithulgala has good swimming areas and for the more adventurous it is one center for the white water rafting. Rafters Retreat offers excellent rafting excursions and in our opinion, provides the most adventurous and comfortable tree houses in the World.

Colombo is a fascinating city, not only for its comfortable blend of East and West, but also for its cozy mixture of past and present. It is the commercial capital of the country. Evening leisure at the hotel.

Distance from Nuwaraeliya to Colombo 180 KM. Overnight Stay in Colombo.

Day 07

Breakfast at the Hotel. On the last day of the tour in Sri Lanka, explore the Commercial capital of Sri Lanka Colombo. Like many capital cities in developing countries Colombo is fast changing its face. In no time, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood, yet in some parts; the old world charm is retained.

Embark on a shopping spree until you drop in the famous Colombo shopping malls placing your hands on world famous brands at unbelievable prices. Also you could visit several landmarks in Colombo while you shop for example; there is a 100-year-Old clock tower and several British built, colonial buildings, which still attract all of us. Other places of interest are, the Pettah bazaar, where one can shop for bargains, Hindu and Buddhist temples, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference hall an outright gift to Sri Lanka from the people's republic of china, the new parliament in Sri Jayawardenapura and the folk art centre.

Out of the incredibly large number of islands only 200 islands are inhabited, with 44 islands adapted as exclusive resort islands. The climate is generally warm and humid. Sun shines all year through with average temperature around 29 - 32 degrees Celsius. The country's 2000 population census shows a total of 270,101 people living in the country.
